Bernard Giraud

Bernard Giraud is the founder and President of Livelihoods Venture, a social enterprise that manages investment funds for the restoration of natural ecosystems and family agriculture. The Livelihoods Carbon Fund brings together ten large companies and has made it possible for rural smallholder communities in Africa, Asia, and Latin America to plant 130 million trees and in doing so, sequester 10 million metric tons of carbon. In 2015, the Livelihoods Fund for Family Farming (Livelihoods 3F) was set up with large companies involved in transforming their supply chains. Danone and Mars Inc. are the first investors and plan to invest 120 million euros in agricultural projects that create economic, social, and ecological value.
